Join our team of talented healthcare professionals! We are looking for a IV Pharmacy Technician to help provide exceptional patient care at a 255 bed public health and teaching hospital located in Jamaica Plain, MA.  The work schedule is variable: Monday-Friday, the pharmacy is opened between 8am - 8pm.  This role will work one evening shift during the week and work one weekend shift a month (weekend hours are 8am-4:30pm).


Facility Information:

The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is a fully accredited teaching facility that provides acute, subacute, and ambulatory care to patients referred by public agencies and private sector providers. The Hospital manages inpatient beds, and an array of outpatient services, including surgical services, 26 outpatient specialty clinics and comprehensive radiological imaging and clinical laboratory services. The Hospital's services help economically and socially disadvantaged patients to get high quality, cost-effective care from a staff that respects their dignity.

What You Will Do

  • Fills physician’s orders, medication surgical kits, medication carts, and/or medication requisitions and specialty items/bins accurately
  • Prepares sterile products (parenteral nutrition) accurately
  • Identifies and fills replacement medications on emergency crash carts, OR carts, floor stock, automatic dispensing cabinets (ADC) accurately
  • Generates reports, pick lists and labels as required
  • Prepackages medications in unit of use containers
  • Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date
  • Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately
  • Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs

What You Will Need 


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year pharmacy technician experience preferably in a hospital setting
  • Must possess current national technician certification or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of MA required
  • Successful completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training course preferred
