Position Summary

The Health System Pharmacy Director (HSPD) serves as the primary operations contact for the client and is responsible for ensuring the pharmacy provides optimal services, meets all legal, accreditation and certification requirements, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of the health system to ensure exceptional patient care.  In addition, the HSPD will establish and maintain a good working relationship with UAHS administration and the administration at each remote site. The HSPD is responsible for the account financial performance, managing direct reports, and contract service delivery.

The hospitals provide care and support to residents of southwestern New York and northwestern Pennsylvania throughout a primary and secondary service area with a population of 160,000.

BRADFORD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
Bradford Regional Medical Center, is a Joint Commission Accredited Hospital with 107 beds to support acute care.  BRMC also has a full service home health division, a 95-bed skilled nursing facility, and a comprehensive 30 bed inpatient and outpatient behavioral health program, including one of the few dual diagnosis units.   Having been a recipient of the 2013 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award, we strive to uphold an unparalleled reputation.  

CUBA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

Cuba Memorial Hospital, is a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) with 20 acute care beds.  Today, Cuba Memorial Hospital services include Radiology, Laboratory, Urgent Care, Rehabilitation, In-Patient Acute Care Medicine, Pallaiative Care and Skilled Nursing Care to its 61 elders who now call CMH home.

OLEAN GENERAL HOSPITAL
Olean General Hospital, is a Joint Commission Accredited Hospital with 186 beds to support acute care.  Since 1898, our mission is simply to provide high quality care to our primary and secondary service areas.  Having been honored as one of Thomas Reuters 100 Top Hospitals for performance improvement leadership and recipient of the 2013 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award.  

What You Will Do

Evaluates operations on an ongoing basis to ensure safe, appropriate, cost effective care delivery

• Develops, enforces and maintains policies and procedures that promote cost-effective, appropriate and safe drug use
• Evaluates operations on an ongoing basis using principles of continuous process improvement.
• Develops, implements, checks and retools action plans to address variances and improve performance
• Maintains an approved formulary
• Ensures a strong patient care focus
• Develops and implements an annual strategic plan for the system
• Maintains a quality improvement plan for the department
• Ensures the pharmacy is in compliance with all federal, state, and other regulatory agency laws and standards including professional practice standards
• Maintains all required departmental dashboards (UAHS and CRX)
• Participates in the development of an annual strategic plan
• Prepares required reports for contract
• Monitors profitability of outpatient infusion center drugs
• Assures compliance requirements of HIPAA

Build and grow client relationships

• Participates in scheduled executive business reviews
• Understand clients' business and generates new ideas to enhance client performance
• Responsible for client communications, issue identification and mitigation and conflict resolution

Manage and develop direct reports

• Manages a team of pharmacy supervisors and/or other health professionals
• Acts as a mentor and role model to develop internal talent

Ensure contract deliverables are implemented

• Establishes strategic goals for the account
• Ensures that company operating standards, processes and procedures are implemented, quality standards achieved, and client expectations met

Manage financial performance

• Prepares budgets for account
• Ensures account profitability projections are met

Contribute to the company

• Participates in self-development activities related to current job function or future career growth 

What You Will Need 

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy
• PharmD and/or MBA/MHA degree preferred
• Current license to practice pharmacy in states of practice/oversight (NY and PA).
• Minimum 5 years management experience in a hospital setting of 100+ staffed beds or equivalent
• Experience overseeing pharmacy residency programs preferred
• Strong working knowledge of pharmacy automation including but not limited to automated dispensing cabinets, carousel technology, packaging equipment, and smart pumps
• Experience with 340B program including contract pharmacies
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
