Hospital Overview

Olean General Hospital, is a Joint Commission Accredited Hospital with 186 beds to support acute care.  Since 1898, our mission is simply to provide high quality care to our primary and secondary service areas.  Having been honored as one of Thomas Reuters 100 Top Hospitals for performance improvement leadership and recipient of the 2013 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award.    

     

What You Will Do

  • Under the supervision of the System Director of Pharmacy (SDOP), serves as a coordinator of pharmacy operations.
  • Provides direct supervision of pharmacy staff, provides support to nursing and attends meetings/committee memberships as required. 
  • According to standard procedure, compounds and dispenses medication and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving written orders and prescriptions from the provider.
  • Actively participates in designated patient medication monitoring activities as defined by department procedures approved by the medical staff. 
  • In addition, the Supervising Pharmacist manages the schedules, fills in when there are staff vacancies, is the first line for managing customer complaints, and performs special projects work as assigned by the SDOP.

 

What You Will Need 

Requirements:

  • Pharm D. or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy
  • Licensed and registered as a pharmacist in both New York State and Pennsylvania.  If not licensed as a pharmacist in New York and Pennsylvania, Pharmacist must currently be licensed in one of the two states and must obtain licensure in the other state.  Pharmacist must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state not licensed, and must obtain licensure in the state not licensed within 90 days.  Valid driver’s license.
  • Two to three years hospital pharmacy experience preferred; trained in general use of pharmacy computer systems; previous management experience preferred; residency training preferred; MHA / MBA or equivalent preferred.
